Henry County Public Schools kindergarten teacher Melissa Walker is a wife and mother of twin girls who began volunteering in 2003. Her family supports her and also gets involved because they all enjoy helping out when needed. "I like helping people and the community. It's rewarding to know that you can make a difference," says Melissa, a 31-year resident of the area. She uses her firefighting knowledge to spread the word about prevention and safety every day." Everyone needs to learn how to prevent fires or what to do when a fire breaks out so they outcome will be positive." If you're thinking about volunteering, Melissa suggests, "Volunteer just one time and see how great it make syou feel. I encourage everyone to try it."
